The minister said that the ministry, in coordination with the head of the investigation department for crimes whose perpetrator was unknown, had reopened the case of the murder of 22-year-old Muhammad Emin Karaalp, who was shot in the head in the town of Cermik in Diyarbakir state on April 18, 2016.
He explained that the investigation he had initiated The Public Prosecution in Cermik, followed by the Public Prosecution in Arghani, identified the suspects after conducting advanced molecular genetic analyzes on cigarette butts found at the crime scene, in addition to analyzing communications records and location data near the site of the incident.
The DNA matching, communications records, and other evidence contributed to reaching the perpetrators a full decade after the crime.
