Prime Minister of Canada: Saudi Arabia and Turkey are the most influential countries in resolving the crises in the Middle East
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, during an official visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, described Saudi Arabia and Turkey as the most influential countries capable of contributing to resolving the crises in the Middle East, stressing the importance of direct dialogue instead of remote criticism.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said, in statements to reporters during his official visit to the Saudi city of Jeddah, that “Saudi Arabia and Turkey are the two most effective countries with regard to potential solutions in the Middle East.”
Carney stressed Canada’s deep interest in the Middle East region, stressing the need to establish a direct dialogue with regional powers instead of directing criticism from afar, explaining that this communication does not mean Ottawa’s approval of everything that these governments are doing.
When asked about avoiding His government publicly criticized Saudi Arabia. Unlike previous Canadian governments, Carney said: “I see that teaching lessons to countries remotely is an ineffective strategy. It may be satisfactory, but it is ineffective, while direct engagement can be effective.”
