The Kremlin confirms contacts with Türkiye regarding the fate of the S-400 system... “a very sensitive topic”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that contacts had been made with Turkey regarding the fate of the Russian S-400 air defense system, after reports in the Turkish press about its sale to a third country, describing the issue as “extremely sensitive.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on Turkish press reports stating that Ankara sold the Russian S-400 air defense system to another party in an attempt to get rid of US sanctions.
Peskov responded to a question about whether Turkey had requested permission from Russia in this regard, and how Moscow dealt with the matter, saying: “This is a very sensitive issue. We had contacts with Turkey about this matter, and we will continue these contacts with the Turkish side.”
In a separate context, Peskov stressed that Russia is open to reaching a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis through negotiations, noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to this path as well. He added that Kiev is unwilling to pursue the path of a peaceful solution, and that Moscow is continuing the “special military operation” in Ukraine and expanding the security zone there while the Ukrainian side seeks to escalate tension.
Peskov warned of the escalation of the Ukrainian army’s attacks on the Zaporizhya nuclear power plant under Russian control, describing this as “extremely dangerous.”
