Reports in the Qatari media stated that a delegation of Qatari mediators headed to the Iranian capital, Tehran, with the aim of reducing tension between the United States and Iran and helping to resume technical negotiations between the two parties.
The Qatari delegation will meet with Iranian officials to discuss the continuation of broader talks between the two parties, in coordination with the American side, according to reports.
The topics of the talks focus on implementing the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran, the escalating tension between the two sides recently, and maritime navigation disputes in Strait of Hormuz.
Washington and Tehran signed the Islamabad agreement on June 14 to end the war between them, with the negotiation period to reach a final agreement extending to 60 days. However, the US army launched new attacks on Iran on July 8, and Iran responded with strikes targeting US bases in neighboring countries.
