Washington eases export restrictions on the UAE and opens the door to supporting drone programs
The US Department of Commerce decided to significantly ease restrictions on the export of commercial and military products to the UAE, and transfer them to a group of less restrictive countries, thus removing restrictions on support for its drone programs and allowing the export of dual-use products without a license.
The US Department of Commerce, through its Bureau of Industry and Security, has decided to significantly ease restrictions on the export of commercial and military products to the United Arab Emirates.
The office’s statement stated that, given the UAE’s status as an “important defense partner of the United States” and its support for US national security interests, including Operation Epic Fury, the UAE’s export classification will be raised.
Under this decision, the office will remove the UAE from groups of countries D:3 and D:4.
With the UAE's transfer to the A:5 group of countries, the UAE government and approved commercial entities will be able to export, re-export and internally transfer military products subject to the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce, some commercial satellites and spacecraft, and dual-use products in the fields of oil and gas production, water desalination, and civil nuclear energy, without the need for a license.أُنتج هذا الخبر بمساعدة الترجمة الآلية ثم خضع لمراجعة تحريرية بشرية للتحقّق من الدقّة والمصدر.
