Erdogan from the NATO summit: We aim to raise defense spending to 3.5%, and we have already achieved 1.5%
Erdogan announced at the opening of the NATO summit that Turkey had taken measures to raise defense spending to 3.5% before 2030 and had already achieved 1.5%, confirming that Turkey had entered the top 10 countries in the world in defense industries with an additional budget of $24 billion for air and missile defence.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, during his speech at the opening of the 36th NATO summit, that Turkey had taken measures to raise the proportion of defense spending to 3.5% before 2030, stressing that it had already achieved the goal of 1.5%.
Erdogan added that Turkey’s greatest success lies in its launch in defense industries, as it entered among the top 10 countries in the world in this field, with an additional $24 billion allocated. For air and missile defense systems, the lack of which is strongly felt within the alliance.
He pointed out that Turkey, as the owner of the largest land army in the alliance, places its capabilities at the service of NATO’s collective capabilities.
